Tri-Valley veteran girls soccer coach Emily Reilly and her MVL champion Lady Dawg soccer team – the No. 2 seed in the tournament bracket – took down No. 1 seeded Beaver Local 4-2 on Wednesday night, Oct. 28 to earn the District crown.
It was the fifth District title for Coach Reilly in her 19-year career at Tri-Valley, and the Lady Dawgs first Regional appearance since the 2021 season.
The district title game was played at spacious – and well-appointed – Wagner Field, in Cadiz on the Harrison Central High School campus.
For the Lady Dawgs, Gabbi Matz opened up scoring 3:00 into the game off of a Priya Moore assist.
Emma Stoneburner added a goal with 18:00 to go in the first half.
Cayden Shoenleben found Stoneburner for Tri-Valley’s third goal of the contest, then Shoenleben scored with 6:00 to go in the game.
Beaver Local scored with five minutes remaining in the game and then converted a penalty kick with 40 seconds left for a 4-2 final.
Klara Drummonds had 3 saves in goal for Tri-Valley.
Tri-Valley will face Fairfield Union (a 1-0 winner over Marietta in their District title game) in a regional semifinal on Tuesday, Nov. 3, at Logan High School at 7:00 p.m.
The Lady Falcons defeated Tri-Valley back on August 18 by a 3-2 score in the regular season opener for both squads.
Congratulations to the TV Lady Dawgs on their District soccer title, and Good Luck in Regional play!
