Coach Brian Sterling’s Tri-Valley varsity softball team got the job done on the road at Steubenville on Wednesday night, May 13, defeating the host Big Red 9-5 in the OHSAA D-III Southeast/East bracket tournament opener.
The Lady Dawgs scored three runs apiece in the third and fourth innings to take control of the contest, and were led at the plate by: Ally Peterson (two hits, two rbi’s and a triple), Ava Neal (two hits, two rbi’s with a double), Gabby Prati (two hits, two rbi’s), Alivia Reffitt (two hits), Camdyn Tyson with a triple, and Gerran Matthews with a double.
Lady Dawg junior pitching ace Megan Kozusko turned in a solid complete game outing in her post season debut, allowing just one walk with a pair of strike-outs.
The Lady Dawgs advance on the tournament trail in District action, playing the winner of the Chillicothe vs. Unioto game on Thursday night, May 21 at Ohio University with a first pitch of 4:00 p.m.
